Ireland passport card
SealCrypt VDS is being used to protect the integrity of the new Irish passport card

Increasingly countries globally including Ireland are turning to VDS (Visible Digital Seal) to protect their citizen's safety. VDS helps reinforce the security of information documents from vaccine passes to national IDs and passports.

The technology can be implemented for mobile applications or integrated into paper-based printable documents. Ireland's newest passport card based on SealCrypt VDS capitalizes on. the innovation's ability to protect and cement the data integrity of the documents people use to verify their identity and status as they access spaces and travel from place to place.

What is SealCrypt VDS?

SealCrpyt VDS technology is the underlying framework of our own SecuSeal Digital ID Access and Health Pass. "It is a high-capacity digital container code that provides secure memory and storage for offline operation without the need for access to a database":

  • Easy to print, from office printer to high definition laser,
  • Easy to operate; offline, locally via a smartphone
  • Easy to use with light infrastructures, locally or via web services, with or without databases

It is used for applications that require a very high level of security and integrity control such as visual and other biometric recognition.

The information is stored in   a code versus in the cloud, which makes it more secure. It can be integrated into security and identity verification applications, with or without biometrics such as identity cards, driving licenses, voter cards, resident cards, vehicle registration cards self-associated with license plates, etc.

Ireland's passport card was updated in October 2021 to use a SealCrypt VDS. This replaces the old silver reflective (OSM) strip at the rear of the card.

The head of the passport department who bet on SealCrypt four years ago confirms her choice with this 2nd more advanced iteration of the product for a term of 5 years. The Passport Card is available to all Irish citizens who hold a valid Irish Passport Book. The Passport Card will match the expiry date of an individual's Passport Book if the expiration is shorter than 5 years.
