Dallas Independent School District Selects Sandia International to Implement RFID Technology Across School Libraries to Boost Efficiency, Visitor Automation and Workflow

The technology will focus on delivering school libraries better circulation tracking and collection management by utilizing the tagging capabilities of state-of-the-art RFID technology to streamline and automate library services.

Grand Prairie, TX (August 28, 2022) — As part of its ongoing commitment to deliver best-fit innovative solutions to its clients, Sandia International announced today that it has partnered with Envisionware to provide Dallas Independent School District (DISD) with an RFID custom solution that would offer students and staff a seamless user experience in school libraries

The collaboration will facilitate seamless connectivity with DISD’s current Integrated Library System (ILS). It will enable ILS-compatible RFID tags for the real-time location of materials, circulation tracking and collection management. Self-service kiosks with “informational” will allow live corrections, adjustments status changes and other updates. Students, for example, will be empowered to check out books and other materials independently and have them automatically checked in when they return them. Librarians in turn can use their valuable time to improve students’ learning experience.

DISD is the second largest public school district in the state and the fourteenth largest in the nation boasting 230 sites that serve 155,000 students from PK to 12th grade and employs approximately 20,000 professionals. Its current ILS conducts approximately 1.8 million library transactions covering over 400,000 titles and 2 million items annually.

“The new RFID management system will significantly improve and modernize library processes", says Alexander Ayanru, president and CEO of Sandia international. “…Having the ability to implement a technology that affords intuitive, speedier and more accurate checkout for students and faculty—and quicker inventory control that cuts staff labor and time by minimizing tedious processes—is an innovative approach to library management and allows more time for librarians to engage with users”.
